SCARLETT’S DIVORCE DRAMA

-

In recent years, Scarlett Johansson has thrilled us with action roles in The AAvengers and Lucy, but

with w Marriage Story t the actress returns to her indie roots, and many believe it could be a shot at her first Oscar nomination. Described by director Noah Baumbach as “a love story aboutbtdidivorce”, ” Marriage Story follows actress Nicole and theatre director Charlie as they try to have an amicable split for the sake of their son. But things quickly become messy when they both lawyer up. Mother-of-one Scarlett, 35, knows this story all too well. When she first

met with Noah to discuss the film, she was going through her own divorce from French journalist Romain Dauriac, with whom she shares fiveyear-old daughter Rose.

“It was a cathartic experience to share with him,” she says. “We talked a lot about our families, our own parents. We talked a lot about our past relationships.

Nicole is a sum of all of those parts.”

And it’s not just the critics singing her praises. Her costar, StarWars’ Adam Driver, relished the chance to work with the Jojo Rabbit actress. “If there’s someone you have to do this really hard thing with, Scarlett is for sure the one you want to go into battle with,” he tells. “I would divorce her all over again.”

As for her own marriage story? Scarlett recently got engaged to Saturday Night Live writer Colin Jost and while she is private about the details of their engagement, she did share that “when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, that’s a lovely special thing.”
