The breast advice? Let mums choose
I write in regard to the “Ask Polly” question and answer regarding breastfeeding in this week’s issue ( WD, Nov 18). As a magazine for women I presume you aim to empower women, including mothers, and their choices. Therefore it is disappointing to see an advice column regarding extended breastfeeding that describes it as “weird” and makes a judgement on another woman’s choice. If this was an attempt at humour it falls very flat. This is mum shaming. There is enough judgement around breast-feeding as it is without comments like this being published. I hope you will take this into account when making editorial decisions in future.
