The beauty of GREEN

Renowned beauty brand Garnier is seizing the opportunity to help create a positive impact by leading the way towards more sustainable practices that benefit all!

As one of the world’s most celebrated beauty brands, Garnier is used to being recognised for its innovation and efficacy, but it’s the most recent accolade that they’re most proud of. All Garnier products globally are now officially approved by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny programme – the leading organisation working to end animal testing and the cruelty-free gold standard. It is yet another step forward for Garnier towards its goal of becoming the first truly sustainable naturally inspired brand that is accessible to all.

“Garnier is a global brand familiar to us all,” says Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty Free International. “To work with them to help end animal testing for cosmetics and declare them officially approved under the Cruelty

Free International Leaping Bunny Programme is a real milestone. It has taken many months, but Garnier has diligently reviewed every supplier and source, and we are completely confident with the results.”

To achieve Leaping Bunny status, Garnier provided evidence from more than 500 suppliers, who source over 3000 ingredients from across the world to make Garnier products. This process will be ongoing with the suppliers audited regularly in the future.

Garnier, which produces 1.8 billion products that are sold in 64 countries, carries the Leaping Bunny accreditation with honour as it marks more than 30 years of commitment from the beauty company to end animal testing.

It’s a goal that began in 1989 and sits harmoniously alongside their other dedications in ethical beauty practices. 2020 was a landmark year for the brand, that saw the world-famous company launch its Green Beauty initiative, which is an end-to-end approach to sustainability, transforming every stage of Garnier’s value chain and dramatically reducing the brand’s environmental impact.

And the results so far have been impressive – 96% of ingredients used in Garnier products are vegan and sustainably sourced, while its eco-friendly formulas take into consideration all aspects of production, including the ethical, environmental and social impacts.

More and more of the product’s packaging is derived from recycled material and recyclable, and the brand aims to have its industrial sites carbon neutral by 2025.

Garnier’s commitment to green beauty means redefining the present and future of the industry through innovation, exploring new formulas, and discovering new ways to offer the same quality and care as always, without impacting our environment.
