SECRET DATES REVEALED!
The former couple fuel romance rumours for the second time
They’re still seen as one of Hollywood’s hottest ever romances, and Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer now have recently had fans buzzing about whether they’ve reunited after more than a decade apart.
Now, an insider tells Woman’s Day that Jen, 52, and John, 43, have actually been meeting up in secret for quite some time! “Before COVID restrictions came into place, it wasn’t unusual to see Jen and
John catching up over a drink at Sunset Tower, which is her favourite bar, and John used to live there on and off before he bought a house in LA – not too far from hers,” the source says.
“They’ve always been friendly exes, and you could tell there was still chemistry between them.”
MATURING WITH AGE
Gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi reignited the romance speculation late last month after an eagle-eyed fan suspected a dog in one of John’s social media videos was actually Jen’s dog, Lord Chesterfield, as they shared the same look and same unique collar.
“Is that Jennifer Aniston’s dog in JM’s new TikTok announcing his new music? A doggy play date perhaps,” the site posed to fans.
And our source confirms the pair, who dated for a brief but intense time from 2008 to 2009, have never completely closed the door on their relationship. Soon after their split, John not-so-subtly hinted their problem was their eight-year age difference, rather than chemistry, saying, “I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last. In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can’t change the fact that I need to be 32.”
But now the singer is 43 and reasonably more mature, the insider says the age gap isn’t so obvious – or important – anymore. And while playboy John has been criticised for his long list of celebrity conquests in the past, he hasn’t had a notable romance since his split from Katy Perry in 2014, indicating he could be holding out for someone special.
SECOND CHANCE
As for Jen, who made a point of saying “we adore one another” even after their break-up, it’s always been a case of timing when it comes to giving things another try with John.
“She always said one day he might be right for her, and she hinted if they were both single when he’d done some growing up, there might be another chance for them,” a second insider says. “He didn’t take that very well for quite some time, but 10 years later, John’s a changed man.”
While the source says Jen could never 100 per cent trust that John wouldn’t stray, after two divorces, from Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux, the actress has taken a more carefree approach to her love-life these days and is content just being in the moment.
“Their friendship has been slowly progressing for a few years now, and given that Jen’s been quietly dating lately and has cooled things off with Brad, she’s struggling to find a reason not to try things again with John,” the insider adds. “They’re hanging out at each other’s homes, where he plays music for her on his acoustic guitar... which she has always found hard to resist!”
‘Their friendship has been slowly progressing’
After a few shaky years, friends were privately taking bets on when Reese Witherspoon and her Hollywood agent hubby Jim Toth would divorce.
Two years ago, the grapevine lit up with credible whispers that she was about to le the papers, but they arrived arm in arm at Zoe Kravitz’s Parisian wedding just weeks later.
e couple hung on by a thread during the pandemic, with reports he was living alone at their Malibu house after a streaming app venture fell through.
Meanwhile, she remained with her kids – Ava, 21, and Deacon, 17, from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe, and Tennessee, eight, who she shares with Jim – at the family compound in Brentwood, consumed by her booming acting and producing career and several marketing projects.
But last week, Reese, 45, declared to the world their troubles were behind them, posting a gorgeous photo from their wedding 10 years ago. Now Woman’s Day can reveal how Reese and Jim, 51, saved their marriage – and now plan to celebrate with a raucous second wedding!
“Reese and Jim have been working hard to get things back on track,” says a source. “ey made it a focus to ‘cut the work crap’ when they’re together and it’s worked wonders.
“Reese agreed to lower her workload, and he agreed to spend some time with her in
Nashville, which is her spiritual home and where she was raised. He never really cared for it there, but there’s no doubt the past few months have brought some of the most precious moments of their lives.”
SOUTHERN WEDDING
Now we’re told the couple are plotting “the ultimate Southern wedding” in a nod to Reese’s roots as they make a new beginning for themselves.
“Reese wanted their rst wedding to be in Tennessee but Jim preferred California, so they compromised and married on a small ranch she once owned in Ojai,” says a source. “But it wasn’t quite the same. Now Jim’s more on board with her Southern roots, he’s agreed to have a huge party on her home turf.”
e insider says Reese is gleefully planning the party of the century, COVID pending, for the
Indian summer
– “her favourite season in
Nashville”
– for A-list guests including
Jennifer
Aniston, Brad
Pitt, Julia
Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, Laura
Dern and Paul Rudd.
“She wants to put on the sort of southern soiree no one will forget, complete with pre-ceremony mint juleps, re ies, moonshine and line dancing all night long,” says a source. “She’s asking nicely for Jim to wear a cowboy hat, but she’s not sure she’ll be successful. Her friends are so excited for her – Nicole, who lives nearby when she’s in the US, even has her ngers crossed she’ll be a bridesmaid for this celebrity event of the year.
“Reese bought her historic manor in Nashville in 2014 and has always dreamed of hosting
‘Nashville is her spiritual home and where she was raised’
a wedding there, perhaps her daughter Ava’s – she never dreamed it would be her own. She’s so relieved things are better than ever with Jim, as she was convinced he was her soulmate the second they met all those years ago.”
