KIM’S MELTDOWN OVER MARILYN MONROE’S DRESS!

Beauty is pain – just ask Kim Kardashian, whose appearance at the Met Gala in New York was overshadowed by some major drama. On the big day, the reality star revealed she didn’t eat sugar or carbs for three weeks in order to slip into her vintage Jean-Louis gown, which Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe famously wore to sing Happy Birthday to US president John F. Kennedy in 1962.

“I tried it on and it didn’t fit me,” Kim confessed. “I had to lose 16 pounds [7kg]. It was such a challenge, but it was like a role I was determined to fit.”

The reality star, 41, was later slammed by critics for embarking on a dramatic crash diet just to squeeze into the skin-tight dress, which couldn’t be altered due to its historic importance.

What many missed, however, is that Kim was still unable to zip up the crystalencrusted creation, which meant she was forced to cover the back with a fur stole – a wardrobe malfunction that left her “seething”, according to insiders.

Walking up the Met stairs also proved a challenge and Kim had to change into a replica of the gown once she finally got to the top to avoid damaging the pricey item.

“I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history,” Kim said of the 60-year-old piece, which had been on display at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida.

Despite the drama, she added, “I am forever grateful for this moment.”

Superstar sisters Ashley and Wynonna Judd are leaning on each other following the death of their mother, country singer Naomi, who passed away suddenly on 30 April aged 76. “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy,” actress Ashley, 54, shared in an Instagram post. “We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered.”

The iconic singer’s celebrity friends were quick to rally around the sisters. “Oh, friend, my heart is broken for you and your sister,” responded Reese Witherspoon, while Salma Hayek wrote, “So very sorry, my lovely Ashley. My heart breaks for you both. Sending you love and prayers. May she rest in peace.”

Country music legend Naomi – who formed Grammywinning duo The Judds with Wynonna, 57 – was due to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame a day before her death. Through tears, Wynonna and Ashley accepted the honour on behalf of their mother in an emotional ceremony two days later.

The band – who stopped touring in 2011 – had also just announced they were heading back out on the road in September for a series of sold-out shows.

However, despite her musical success, Love Can Build A Bridge singer Naomi had been open about her struggle with depression.

“When I came off the tour, I went into this deep, dark, absolutely terrifying hole and I couldn’t get out,” she said in 2016. “I spent two years on my couch.”
