CAMILLA’S IN VOGUE!
The Duchess of Cornwall’s ascent from royal mistress to confirmed future Queen Consort is about to be celebrated in the most respected fashion and society bible in Britain. Whispers are ramping up that Camilla has posed for Vogue magazine ahead of her 75th birthday on 17 July – a topsecret undertaking that involved a “skeleton staff” to protect the exclusive.
“Conversations have been ongoing for months so this has been in the pipeline for a long time,” a source tells the Mail On Sunday. “The timing has been carefully thought through and her 75th birthday felt like the appropriate time.”
Speculating how the duchess will appear on the highfashion mag – which has boasted covers of Princess Diana, Princess Anne, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen before her – former editor Alexandra Shulman says, “I remember commissioning [photographer] Mario Testino to photograph Camilla and Charles for their first wedding anniversary in 2006.”
Camilla was adamant that she did not want clothes provided for her and instead brought in her own. “She just knew what she liked and what suited her, and did not want to undergo a Vogue transformation.”
Alexandra adds, “Will she stick with her own tried and tested wardrobe or will we see a new image of the Duchess of Cornwall emerge? She’s walking a fine line between remaining true to herself, while realising she is poised to step into a more highly scrutinised role.”
