RENÉE LEANS ON COLIN

-

The actress has found an unlikely shoulder to cry on as she deals with the stress of Ant’s rocky situation – her former co-star and still-close pal Colin Firth.

“Renée and Colin have stayed in touch since their Bridget Jones days – they’ll forever be bonded by that,” says a source of the pair, who became friends on the set of the 2001 movie.

“There’s a deep trust between them that neither is sure they could have with anyone else, thanks to their shared experience of being in Britain’s biggest rom-com. Renée will often get him on the phone when she’s in personal crisis to get a man’s perspective on things.”

According to the insider, the Staircase star, 61, has nothing but sympathy for Renée. “Colin’s heart goes out to her. He thinks she needs to be patient – it will eventually be over and he’s offered a sympathetic ear for whenever she needs it.”
