JOHN KRASINSKI BORN TO RUN!

Emily Blunt’s husband returns for the new season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, streaming now on Prime Video

John Krasinski was clearly born to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan. While others were daydreaming of being Spandex-wearing superheroes or stage-riding rock stars as kids, the Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan star had other things on his mind.

“Weirdly, I played spy kind of pretending games more than most things I remember,” John, 43, tells Woman’s Day. “It’s crazy to actually be doing it now on a television show.

“As a kid, I was a huge Jack Ryan fan. The Hunt For Red October [1990] was one of my favourite movies. And, of course, Harrison Ford played the character so well [in 1992’s Patriot Games and Clear And Present Danger in 1994]. It’s a bit surreal to be doing the same character now.”

Along with his careermaking turn as Jim Halpert in the US mockumentary sitcom The Office, John is also known for starring in and directing the spine-tingling thriller

A Quiet Place and directing its sequel A Quiet Place Part II.

Both films also starred John’s wife, actress Emily Blunt.

Like John, his Jack Ryan

co-star Michael Kelly, who plays former CIA officer Mike November, enjoyed “pretending” as a kid, long before he thought of being an actor.

“Maybe I did know I always wanted to be an actor, but I didn’t know how to say it was ‘actor’,” Michael, 53, shares.

“Basically, what he’s saying is that we’re still kids and still pretending to run away from bad guys in the woods,” John says, before Michael adds, “And now they pay us to do it!”

At the start of season three of the hit spy series, we find Jack in Rome, Italy, where he learns that a secret plan to restore the might of the Soviet empire is being revived, decades after it was thought to have been shut down.

Jack is on a mission to track down a nuclear missile which, if fired, could set off World War III. But in the process, things take a turn for him when he ignores orders and is forced to go rogue.

“The CIA doesn’t believe him, so Jack acts on his own,” John explains. “And because of that, it’s the CIA chasing him the whole season.”

With Jack on the run through Europe, there are a lot of tense action scenes – and a lot of stunts. Did John and Michael get to do any themselves?

“Sometimes legal [the production’s legal department] steps in and prevents us from doing some things,” Michael tells. “But we’ll do anything they’ll let us do.”

John, who’s also an executive producer on the series, adds with a laugh, “I’ll be the one who will be sued if you do get hurt!”

‘I’ll be the one who will be sued if you do get hurt!’

Channing Tatum is back for one titillating last show. Broke and bartending in Florida, Magic Mike is lured to London by a wealthy socialite (Salma Hayek), who promises to help him create the strip show of his dreams.
