CHER TURNS AGAINST HER SONS
She’s loved-up with a new flame, but her family has serious concerns
After a romantic chance meeting in Paris, Cher and her new lover Alexander Edwards have moved extremely fast. Friends say the pop icon is so smitten with her 36-year-old toyboy that she’s secretly planning a quickie Vegas wedding – and now the family is facing shock reports that she’s considering cutting her disapproving sons out of her $540 million will.
Those around the legendary 76-year-old singer say she is utterly convinced the music producer is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, and she’s seeing red over the fact her sons Chaz Bono, 53, and Elijah Blue Allman, 46, have not supported the relationship.
“Cher is furious that Chaz and Elijah are against her marriage,” a source tells Woman’s Day. “She’s blaming them for overshadowing her blissful happiness with Alexander. She refuses to understand that they’re worried and actually trying to help.”
Sadly, there seems to be a growing “miscommunication” in the family, with insiders adding that Elijah and Chaz couldn’t care less about Cher’s money – they both have careers of their own – but the boys simply fear their beloved mother is moving way too fast with a man she doesn’t really know.
WARNING FROM FRIENDS
Some of Cher’s friends have gently warned her to listen to her sons, but she refuses – and the more anyone talks about it, “the less she wants to hear it”, we’re told.
Things have become so tense between the singer and her sons, whom she shared with the late Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, that she’s said she’s ready to move on with Alexander – with or without their approval.
“She’s been hellbent on marrying this guy and is speaking to her lawyers about adjusting her will to make AE [Alex] her sole beneficiary,” says the source.
Cher and Alex have been showcasing their affection since revealing their unlikely romance in November. The following month, the Believe songstress was flashing her reported $270,000 engagement ring from Alex on Twitter.
Such public displays are said to be seriously stressing her two children out.
While Cher is reportedly avoiding serious conversations about her relationship at the moment, insiders insist she knows all too well the importance of family and they hope she changes her tune fast.
