Reese Witherspoon and celebrity agent Jim Toth had been “growing apart”, say those closest to the actress, so it came as no great shock to friends and family when the couple announced they’d made the “difficult decision” to divorce just days before their 12th wedding anniversary.
The pair – who share son Tennessee, 10, together – have been quietly separating assets for years and as they finalise their split, Reese, who’s worth a staggering $693 million, is said to be embracing the single life!
“Reese has been liberated and she can’t wait to finally let her hair down,” an insider tells Woman’s Day. “This is a woman who had a shotgun wedding at 23, followed by a ‘security blanket’ marriage with her agent, all while raising three kids and winning Oscars along the way. It’s time for her to have some fun.”
According to the source, the actress has never really been single for long and is still getting used to not having to accommodate a partner. “She’s absolutely ecstatic and so relieved to have this out in the open,” says our spy.
Of course, it helps that the 47-yearold’s celebrity friends have rallied around her. “All her girlfriends are madly arranging lunches, parties and even girls-only vacations – they want to take her back to Italy as they had a blast in Venice in 2016,” shares the Hollywood insider of the star, who has ruled out marrying again but is open to the idea of meeting someone new.
“She’s completely clueless about dating, but she has a solid group of friends, like Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and even Jen Aniston, who won’t introduce her to any losers. She’s not setting up a Raya account just yet, but Reese’s friends are arranging a string of cocktail parties with some gorgeous single men.”
