HARRY & MEGHAN’S WORST NIGHTMARE

Behind closed doors, the royal couple is facing a new crisis

-

While the world waits to hear whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the King’s coronation on 6 May, Meghan and Harry are secretly at war over the prince’s bombshell drug revelations.

Arguments between the pair became more heated after Harry, 38, was urged to disclose how he answered the drug questions for his US visa by America’s Heritage Foundation.

The request came through after the prince was open about using cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms in his best-selling memoir Spare, and also discussed taking drugs in several interviews promoting the book, including on 60 Minutes.

“It was obvious to us as kids the British press’ part in our mother’s misery and I had a lot of anger inside of me that, luckily, I never expressed to anybody,” he told host Anderson Cooper. “But I resorted to drinking heavily. Because I wanted to numb the feeling or I wanted to distract myself from how… whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well.”

Most recently, the troubled royal detailed how he used the psychedelic drug ayahuasca to help deal with his anguish while taking part in a livestreamed therapy session with trauma expert Dr Gabor Mate.

Psychiatrist Dr Max Pemberton slammed Harry after the session, saying his on-air admissions were “irresponsible” and accusing him of “wading into the debate on mental health with reckless ignorance”.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams was equally scathing, saying, “The issue of the drugs… you see him imply that certain drugs are beneficial. Who on Earth is advising him?”

America’s Heritage Foundation, which promotes public policy in Washington DC, is now demanding that US officials reveal the details of Harry’s visa application before emigrating to California in 2020. Each year, hundreds of applicants from the UK are prevented from moving to the US due to drug issues, with an admission of drug use generally being grounds for inadmissibility.

Senior lawyer Samuel Dewey says, “It is in the public interest to know how Prince Harry answered the drug question.

“If he has been honest and open about his drug use, and there is no reason to believe he has not been, it could well be that he ticked the ‘yes’ box, in which case he would need a waiver to be granted a visa to be admitted into the States.

“That means he would have had to be interviewed in person and someone would have had to grant him a waiver. We are simply asking who granted that waiver.”

Meanwhile, insiders say Meghan, 41, is furious about the implications of Harry’s

bombshell admissions, which may mean that he is denied re-entry to the US if he chooses to attend his father’s coronation. She is particularly concerned that they will have nowhere to live if they are kicked out of the US since King Charles has evicted them from Frogmore Cottage.

“There’s been tension and some explosive rows between them as Meghan is horrified by the way this is all unfolding,” says a close source. “It’s highly embarrassing and throws out that horrible question of where else they could go if this horrific scenario were to occur.

“They’re not really welcome anywhere and no longer have a home in the UK, so her worst fear is that they’ll have to leave home with nowhere to go.”

The insider continues, “Meghan and Harry have built this beautiful life together, and all of their hopes and dreams revolve around living and working in the US. To have that taken away from them and be forced out would be their worst nightmare. It would change their lives overnight in a very bleak way.”

However, the prince is adamant that everything has been overblown.

“Harry is shrugging it off, and saying he was merely being honest and open about past indiscretions. He says he’s purged those demons many years ago, and despite this new scandal over his drug use, there can be be no question that he has earned the right to live in the country.”
