Zoom’s new feature allows paid users charge ticket fees for events

-

ZOOM, THE VIDEO CON FERENCING COMPANY, has announced new features on its video conferencing platform.

The company has now introduced a feature that allows paid users of the platform to charge for access to online events and meetings on the platform.

The platform for paid event hosting named OnZoom is different from the regular Zoom platform. On the new platform, paid Zoom users will be able to charge a fee when users want access to an event. This feature will be powered via an integration with Paypal, a payment processing platform.

Although the OnZoom platform is currently only available in the US, Zoom says that they will make the feature available globally by next year.

Zoom says that it does not plan to charge users extra for using the OnZoom platform, but admits that it is considering taking a cut from ticket charges as from next year.

The Zoom video conferring platform became popular at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic with companies and organisations forced to take their business processes online due to a restriction on movements and social gatherings. Zoom was the video conferencing app of choice as people sort out alternative means of meeting.

It is worthy to mention that Facebook, Google and Microsoft are some of the companies that have emerged as competitors to Zoom in the video conferencing market with all of them launching or reintroducing their own versions of video conferencing apps.

Zoom will now hope that this new move is adopted quickly by its community as it looks to consolidate itself as the number one player in the video conferencing market.
