United Nigeria, Bayelsa state govt sign service agreement
to operate four daily flights in/out of Bayelsa Int’l Airport
The Management of United Nigeria Airlines just last week, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bayelsa state government for the commencement of direct scheduled flight operations into, and out of, the Bayelsa International Airport. According to the terms of the agreement, United Nigeria will operate four daily flights in and out Bayelsa International Airport.
A statement signed by Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, head, corporate communications, explains that United Nigeria will service the Bayelsa International Airport daily from the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2) in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
With the MoU, United Nigeria Airlines will commence direct flight operations to Bayelsa International Airport in July, 2021. The deal was signed in the presence of Duoyo Diri, the executive governor of Bayelsa state and the executive council.
Diri noted that with the signing, the people of Bayelsa will begin to reap the benefits of the government’s investment in infrastructure. He also said the venture will open Bayelsa, which is the resource base of not only Nigeria, but to the world, adding that United Nigeria Airlines was chosen as partner because of its quality of service and efficiency.
In his remarks, Osita Okonkwo, executive director and chief operating officer of the airline thanked the government and people of Bayelsa state for choosing United Nigeria Airlines and assured that the the management and staff will continue to offer the quality service that it is known for.
Recall that early this month, a United Nigeria Airline aircraft with flight number U50515 from Port Harcourt to Abuja airport made air return to Port Harcourt on almost getting to Abuja after running into turbulence at Abuja.
Reacting to the incident immediately after the incident, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, head, corporate communications, United Nigeria Airline, said : ” A United Nigeria flight number U50515 from PHC to ABV departed PHC with clear and good weather forecast However on approaching Abuja experienced moderate turbulence which necessitated diverting back to Port Harcourt as weather conditions were below our operating requirements.
