- Dikachi Elemba, in Owerri

THE SOUTHEAST NIGE RIA WILL SOON BEGIN TO WITNESS further progress as the region swings into massive industrial and economic revolution through the collaborative efforts of the state governments and Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu an elder statesman has said.

Iwuanyanwu, chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo Elders Council stated this while addressing the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide who visited him in his office in Owerri. He said this would be achieved in collaboration with the state governments in the region and the group worldwide.

The massive industrial and economic revolution he noted would not only lead to massive employment of the youths, but also will produce goods and services, improve the GDP of the zone and export some of the products to improve the gross national products (GNP) of Nigeria. He added that, if many industries were established, youth’s restiveness would be curbed while crime would also be reduced because an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

Iwuanyanwu who is a strong advocate and purveyor of youth empowerment and human capital development stated that with the economic revolution to be embarked upon, in the next ten years, the region would be a pride for all to enjoy, and that food would be provided for the youths at very highly reduced price and easily available with the coming of industrial revolution

He told the Ohanaeze youths that he is proud to be an Igbo man because Ndigbo have a proud heritage, pointing out that, the way the Igbos rose to be where they are today stunned their neighbours and the world. He urged them to always aim at the best in all their pursuits in life.

While calling for the restructuring of Nigeria, he pointed out unless the country is restructured, peace, unity and rapid development would not be achieved. He said that restructuring is very important for the country to move forward.

Wenceskus Ogbonnia, the national assistant youth leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth on the visit, had earlier said they visited Iwuanyanwu to thank him on all what he had been doing for the Igbo nation and his continuous struggle to ensure total emancipation of the youths.

Ogbonnia said that history has it recorded that Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu had contributed tremendously towards the development of Igbo nation, even as he has continued to ensure that the youths are gainfully empowered and protected. His contributions at every forum where issues concerning the youths are mentioned are highly appreciated by the youths as he has always stood by them.

Contributing Udekigbou Chibuzor, assistant publicity secretary appealed to the southeast and southsouth governors to set up a road commission for the purposes of rehabilitating federal roads in the zones, saying that all the federal roads in the zones are in deplorable condition.
