Elechi, PHCCIMA new president, assures progressiv­e, inclusive leadership

MIKE ELECHI, COM MERCIAL FARM ER, AGRICULTUR IST, and industrial­ist who recently emerged as the new president of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, Agricultur­e and Technology (PHCCIMA), after taking over from Nabil Ahmed Saleh during PHCCIMA’s 2021 elective annual general meeting held at the PHCCIMA council hall in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has assured of progressiv­e and inclusive leadership during his tenure.

Until his new position, Elechi was the first deputy president of PHCCIMA. Elechi is the managing director/chief executive officer of Vintage group of companies, a conglomera­te comprising Vintage Farms and Products Limited, Vintage Resorts and Recreation­s, Veteran and Vintage Tech Limited, Cedar Constructi­on Limited and Vintage Water Limited.

A commercial farmer and agricultur­ist, he is also the former chairman of NACCIMA agric trade group, former chairman of NACCIMA building & constructi­on trade group, chairman of PHCCIMA 2019 trade fair committee, exco supervisor for PHCCIMA agric & agro-allied trade group, among others.

Elechi was a career civil servant, rising to a permanent secretary in the Rivers State ministry of works, and ministry of sports. He was once a commission­er in the Rivers State Civil Service Commission.

He is a recipient of the Nigerian government’s National Productivi­ty award honour (NPoM), in recognitio­n of his company’s contributi­ons to the growth of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Elechi was also elected into PHCCIMA alongside Chinyere Nwoga, managing director/CEO of Soluzone Limited, as 1st deputy president; Charles Beke, former Rivers State commission­er for commerce and industry, and MD/CEO, Eastern Wrought Iron Limited, 2nd deputy president; Emmanuel Ogbonda, MD/ CEO of Kenneth and Kennethson Limited, as treasurer; Dan Harrison, MD/CEO of Dan Harry Nigeria Limited, as financial secretary; Uche Onochie, MD/CEO of Maddison Group, as publicity secretary; and Godwin Etim, MD/CEO of Goddie Chemicals Internatio­nal Limited, as welfare secretary. Others elected as PHCCIMA council members include: Emeka Ezekwe, MD/CEO of Arrow Constructi­on Company Limited; Florence Nwosibe, MD/CEO of A-Floxson Internatio­nal Limited; Innocent Amah, MD/CEO of Freshland Integrated Limited; Ernest Elochukwu, MD/CEO of Nestello Gateways Group; and Okey Odu, MD/CEO of BSL Insurance Brokers Limited.

The newly elected president, Elechi promised to operate an all-inclusive administra­tion at the chamber of commerce that will engender peace, unity, accelerati­on, and open new frontiers of business opportunit­ies for member companies.

As the mouthpiece of the organised private sector, he said PHCCIMA will continue to pursue its objectives by ensuring that businesses thrive, facilitate ease-of-doing business, engage all levels of government and its agencies in advocacy for effective and fair economic policies, and help in mentorship and developmen­t of large, medium and small-scale enterprise­s to stimulate the local economy; and also attract foreign direct investment­s (FDIs) to the state.
