NDPHC connects Lafia to national grid, awards Owerri substation
NIGER DELTA POWER HOLDING COMPA NY (NDPHC) said it completed the connection of Lafia, Nasarawa power transmission substation to the national grid and awarded that of the Owerri substation in the last few weeks.
According to the company, the Lafia 2X150 MVA, 2X60 /132/33330kV substation was finally completed and energized on Friday 12th November 2021.
It explained that the contract for the multi-billion naira National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) 330/132/33kV Lafia transmission substation was awarded by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in November 2016 while work commenced at the Akurba site in 2017.
NIPP is aimed at strengthening electricity infrastructure and improving supply nationwide.
Both the 2 x 150MVA 330/33kV transformers T1 and T2, as well as, the 75MVar Shunt Reactor (for Voltage Regulation/Control) were successfully energized on Tuesday 30th November 2021, the company disclosed.
Making further disclosures the company said that by Wednesday 1st December 2021 (24hrs after) the 2 x 60MVA 132/33kV transformers T3 & T4 were successfully energized.
Ife-Oluwa Oyedele, executive director, networks,NDPHC, said the Lafia 330/132/33kV substation is presently the newest of its kind in the grid and equipped with world class state-of-the-art digital control and protection facilities with fully functional human-machine-interface (HMI) that enhances real-time operational flexibility, monitoring & control of all the Substation electrical variables.
