NiMet set for 2022 economy wide impact climate report
THE NIGERIAN METEO ROLOGICAL AGENCY (NiMet), at a one-day Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) workshop in Abuja, enlightened stakeholders on SCP as a prelude to the public presentation of the 2022 SCP.
The workshop was organised primarily to educate stakeholders on the need to join hands with the agency for effective utilization of the SCP and to tap from their wealth of knowledge.
Mansur Matazu, professor of applied meteorology and climatology, and director general of NiMet, explained that the objective of the partnership with the stakeholders is to engage them in their role in the co-production of the SCP for effective understanding and efficient utilization of the products.
According to him, the practice has been promoted by NiMet and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
“The objective of these partnerships is to engage with you on your roles in the co-production of the SCP for effective understanding and efficient utilisation of the products,” he said.
The NiMet helmsman expressed the hope that for 2022, NiMet expects further improvement in the content of the SCP through the presence of the various stakeholders, drawing from their wealth of experience to deliver a product that is of high quality, user oriented, impact based and reliable across the various socioeconomic sectors.
