Ganduje steps into KACCIMA leadership crisis, dissolves executive committee

GOVERNOR ABDULLAHI Ganduje took action on the lingering leadership crisis in the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agricultur­e (KACCIMA) by approving the immediate dissolutio­n of the executive committee.

Usman Alhaji, secretary to the Kano State government, in a statement, said that it had become necessary to take the action owing to the inability of the leadership of the body to organise a fresh and acceptable election long after the expiration of their tenure.

The statement added that Governor Ganduje has already approved the setting up of a nine member caretaker committee, led by Lawan Sale Garo, a renowned industrial­ist.

The terms of reference of the committee, among others, is to organise elections within six months, as well as to restore peace and sanity in the activities of the chamber.

Other committee members include, Muktari Gashash, co-chair, representa­tive of the Ministry of Commerce, Salim Saleh Muhammad, Yakubu Uba, Tijjani Usman, Kabiru Hamisu Kura, Aisha Sulaiman Baffa, and Bashir Dado.

In his remarks, the committee chairman, Garo, expressed the appreciati­on of the committee for the appointmen­t. He said the confidence reposed in them will not be betrayed, and assured that the committee will work assiduousl­y to achieve the set goals within the stipulated period.
