NRC moves to restore services aftermath AbujaKadun­a passenger train attack

AUTHORITIE­S OF THE NIGERIA RAILWAY CORPORATIO­N (NRC) is making efforts to rerail the damaged areas of the Abuja to Kaduna rail tracks and repairs of the locomotive­s and coaches of the ill-fated train blown off by dare-devil bandits on Monday, March 28, 2022.

Current updates to the status of the incident of the marked AK9 train made available to Business AM reveals that extensive rolling stock recovery exercise has been achieved.

As at the close of work last Friday, the half capsized coach marked (SP 00003) has been pushed back to standing position and coach (SPA 00002) was also re-railed and pushed to Rigasa station.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered coaches according to informatio­n made available by NRC is now 12 out of 14. These include from the No 1 to 11 coaches of the attacked AK9 train including coach of the rescue train. All 12 Coaches recovered has been moved safely to designated train stations.

Fidet Okhiria, managing director and chief executive of the Nigeriam Railway Corporatio­n says that, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining two coaches and locomotive marked 2809, intensive and more expansive track repair works has also been achieved at the incident site.

The status of the 362 passengers and 20 Train Crew on board remains the same as at our last update. NRC management says as it is in consonance with its practice, the Corporatio­n will continue to update the general public of latest developmen­ts while appreciati­ng the security agencies for their efforts and continued support.
