Alaro City in early recognitio­n, wins estate surveyors award

For the developers of Alaro City, the new city’s recognitio­n by a foremost profession­al body in the Nigerian real estate sector, the Nigerian Institutio­n of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) is no mean feat coming to it just a couple of years into its developmen­t.

The inclusive new city, being developed in the Lekki Free Zone, was at NIEV’S Honours Night at the weekend, recognized and awarded ‘The Most Notable Developmen­t Project’ by the profession­al body.

A joint venture developmen tb yr en de av our and lag os State Government, Alaro City is a mixed-use, city-scale developmen­t with master-planned areas for offices, logistics and warehousin­g, homes, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, entertainm­ent and 150 hectares of parks and open spaces.

Odunayo Ojo, Alaro City’s CEO, described the city’s award as a testament to the hard work and dedication by the whole team at alaro city. he dedicated it to the team behind the project, noting that the city’s success “is not possible without the cooperatio­n of our partners, the Lagos State government.”

In January, Rendeavour, Africa’s largest new city devel

oper, formally launched Alaro City. Situated in the Lekki Free Zone, the city has received fast track investment from Rendeavour due to high demand from the Nigerian market.

The first manufactur­ing facility, constructe­d on 5.4 hectares, is due to be operationa­l by August. Additional facilities for steel fabricatio­n and fast-moving consumer goods are under developmen­t. The first phase of urban infrastruc­ture, including the first three kilometres of road, water supply and an independen­t power plant, is underway and due for completion by December.

The awards night focused on the theme ‘Promoting Profession­alism in the City of Lagos’ and handed out awards in seven categories. witch tech company won the ‘Corporate Building Material industry developmen­t Award’, Stanbic Capital won the ‘Corporate Real Estate Finance Award and the Lagos Land Bureau won the ‘Outstandin­g Government Agency Award’.
