CSCD, Obasanjo foundation partner to foster possible solutions sickle cell disease

Determined to foster possible solutions to Sickle Cell Disease in Nigeria and Africa, Doctor sickle Cell - Center For Sickle Cell disease will partner with Olusegun Obasanjo foundation to host first African Congress on Sickle Cell Disease (ACSCD) with the support of a host of Sickle Cell Organizati­ons across Africa.

The conference scheduled for 31 October to 2 nd november 2019 at Landmark Center, Victoria Island, Lagos will among other things facilitate exchange of informatio­n among public health experts, medical profession­als, researcher­s, policy-makers, key stakeholde­rs to highlight challenges and opportunit­ies and enhance strategies to control Sickle Cell Disease in Africa.

David Ajaere, co-chair, African Congress on Sickle Cell Disease says conference which is first of its kind in the history of health interventi­on programmes for sickle cell disorder in Africa would seek to address the challenges of the disorder and foster possible solutions to its effect as a public health burden.

A jae re opines that key stakeholde­rs and Organisati­ons expected at the conference include; the federal Ministry of Health, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Lagos State Blood Trans fusion services( l sb ts ), world Health organizati­on( who africa ), amongst other Non-government­al &corporate organizati­ons, multilater­al donor agencies and institutio­ns, health researcher­s, civil society organizati­ons, and the academic community.

Eddie resp han to, a cs cd internatio­nal Affairs Coordinato­r, said that because of the magnitude of the event, opportunit­ies a bound for those who want to be a sponsor, exhibitor, a Speaker or partner which also includes non-government­al and corporate organisati­ons.

Ajaere further said that the Eminent dignitarie­s who are expected to attend the event include Osagie Ehanire, minister of Health Nigeria; Matshidiso Moeti, director, World Health Organisati­on Africa; Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll,the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, Uganda; Chitalu Chilufya MP, Minister of Health Zambia.
