Edo 2020: Igarra King­dom monarch pre­dicts vic­tory for Obaseki …As Otaru of Auchi tasks Ize-iyamu on ful­fill­ment of elec­toral prom­ises

Oba Em­manuel Saiki, the tra­di­tional ruler of Igarra King­dom in Akoko-edo Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of Edo State, has said the chances of Gov­er­nor Obaseki win­ning the Septem­ber 19 elec­tion were high.

The Oba made the re­mark on Mon­day when the gov­er­nor led other mem­bers of the PDP cam­paign team on a cour­tesy visit to the tra­di­tional rulers from the var­i­ous clans at Igarra, the ad­min­is­tra­tive head­quar­ter of Akoko-edo Lo­cal Govern­ment Area.

Oba Saiki, who ex­pressed con­cern over elec­toral vi­o­lence, urged politi­cians to es­chew vi­o­lence and en­sure a peace­ful elec­tion.

“We know that you will win. We have said no to elec­toral vi­o­lence. We wish to ad­vise our politi­cians to shun elec­toral vi­o­lence be­cause it does not pay,” he said.

He how­ever, lauded the gov­er­nor for tak­ing proac­tive steps in cur­tail­ing the spread of coro­n­avirus (Covid-19) pan­demic.

Ear­lier, Obaseki had so­licited sup­port and prayers to emerge vic­to­ri­ous in the elec­tion in or­der to build on nu­mer­ous achieve­ments.

“Your prayers since the past four years Your High­nesses, brought about rad­i­cal rev­o­lu­tion in my ad­min­is­tra­tion. You will not be dis­ap­pointed. I want to as­sure you that we will al­ways be there for you,” he said.

Mean­while, the Otaru of Auchi, Aliru Momoh Ikelebe III has ad­vised the All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC) gov­er­nor­ship can­di­date, Osagie Ize-iyamu to keep to his prom­ises to the peo­ple of the state if he emerges vic­to­ri­ous in the Septem­ber 19 gov­er­nor­ship elec­tion.

Otaru gave the ad­vice when the gov­er­nor­ship can­di­date, his run­ning mate, Gani Audu and other lead­ers of the APC paid the tra­di­tional ruler homage as part of the Eidel-kabir cel­e­bra­tions and of­fi­cially de­liver copies of his SIM­PLE agenda man­i­festo at the week­end in Auchi.

The Auchi monarch who is also the Vice- Chair­man of the Edo State Coun­cil of Tra­di­tional Rulers noted that truth and jus­tice are im­por­tant val­ues that lead­ers must dis­play to bring peace and de­vel­op­ment to his peo­ple.

While com­mend­ing the APC can­di­date and his run­ning mate for the doc­u­men­ta­tion of his prom­ises in the SIM­PLE agenda man­i­festo, how­ever, re­counted some of the con­tri­bu­tions of Gani Audu, as Lo­cal Coun­cil Chair­man.

He there­fore, of­fered prayers and bless­ings for the can­di­date.

Ear­lier, the APC gov­er­nor­ship can­di­date, Osagie Ize-iyamu de­scribed the Otaru as a for­ward-think­ing ruler with great love for his peo­ple.

Ize-iyamu said as one of the fore­most Is­lamic tra­di­tional rulers in the coun­try, the Otaru of Auchi holds an im­por­tant po­si­tion in Edo State, hence his visit to fe­lic­i­tate with him dur­ing Sal­lah and for­mally in­form him of his gov­er­nor­ship bid.

The gov­er­nor­ship can­di­date, who of­fi­cially de­liv­ered copies of his SIM­PLE agenda man­i­festo to the monarch, how­ever, lamented the state govern­ment’s fail­ure to take max­i­mum ad­van­tage of the solid min­er­als de­posited in Auchi, and con­trol ris­ing in­se­cu­rity that has scared away in­vest­ments.

He as­sured the ruler that if elected as gov­er­nor, he will tackle the chal­lenge of se­cu­rity and the ero­sion prob­lems in Auchi king­dom.

The Otaru was joined by other tra­di­tional rulers which in­clude Ali Suleiman, the Ogea­gah of Three Ibies and prom­i­nent Is­lamic lead­ers such as the Sadiq of Auchi, Saliu Ahmed, and Sani Ji­moh, Chair­man of the Mus­lim sup­port group for the APC Cam­paign.

APC lead­ers on Ize-iyamu’s en­tourage in­clude, Lawrence Okah, Pa­trick Obahi­ag­bon, Lucky James, Olu­sola Oke (SAN), and former trade union leader, Peter Esele.
