-

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), recently honoured the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-esan with the CIPM HR Icon award at the 2020 Fellows’ Award and HR recognition ceremonies held in Abuja.

Yemi-esan, who is the chief human resources officer of the Federation was honoured for her role in driving professionalism in the civil service.

Before she was appointed acting head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Yemi-esan was the permanent secretary, ministry of petroleum resources, where she was appointed as a director on the boards of the Nigeria LNG and Bonny Gas Transport Ltd.

Yemi-esan, rose to the position of permanent secretary in 2012 serving first as permanent secretary, service policy and strategy office in the office of the head of the civil service of the Federation and thereafter permanent secretary, federal ministry of information, where she led the professional development efforts aimed at positive management of Nigeria’s reputation and perception both locally and in the international arena.

“It is also a great joy to us at the CIPM that we are presenting the CIPM HR Icon Award, in recognition of a distinguished professional that is revolutionizing the Public Service by introducing and driving the establishment and operationalization of HR Standards and Processes, that are aligned with global best practices,” said Wale Adediran, President/chairman of the Governing Council, CIPM.

According to Adediran, 2020 was a challenging year globally, given the pandemic and the critical imperative of business continuity. He posits that the CIPM recognizes all employees in the private and public sectors who may have passed on in the turbulent year, and pray for God’s comfort for their families and loved ones.

Similarly, the CIPM equally recognised CEOS and organisations that put employees first during the 2020 year of the pandemic. The Awards was done in collaboration with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), which is the chartered body and leading membership organisation for Safety and Health Professionals in the world.

“However, last year, our world was suddenly rocked by the Coronavirus Pandemic that had wreaked much havoc across the world. It had disrupted all we had grown to know and love, in the years past. It looked like things would take much longer to get better, but we are thankful that today our country and economy is returning to some normalcy, albeit ‘the new normal,” Adediran said.
