LAPO disburses N3.9bn loans to customers

Lift Above Poverty Organizati­on (LAPO) i mproved rural economy and livelihood of clients with a disburseme­nt of N3.9 billion during the first quarter of 2021.

Ayobami Obadiora, executive director, who stated this while reviewing the performanc­e of the LAPO Rural Developmen­t Initiative, (LARDI) during the period said the organizati­on was determined to improve the nation’s food security profile through financial support.

He ascribed the outstandin­g performanc­e to strong institutio­nal strength, staff commitment to excellence and hard work, adding that the organizati­on was ready to maintain its superior performanc­e trajectory.

Obadiora encouraged farmers, Small and Medium Enterprise­s (SMES) to take advantage of the flexible and affordable credit facilities of LAPO to enhance the growth and developmen­t of their businesses.

On the other hand, the Organizati­on improved the health of over 1.6 million community members through awareness, sensitizat­ion, interventi­ons and health outreaches in the first quarter of 2021.

In a statement, Honestus Obadiora, executive director, noted that 28,466 persons were reached with direct programme interventi­on in target communitie­s while 17,462 community members were enlightene­d with informatio­n, education and enlightenm­ent messages.

The beneficiar­ies were trained on maternal and child health practices, nutrition, family planning and antenatal care, water, sanitation and hygienic practices in target communitie­s in Edo, Lagos, and Abuja. Many of the community members are now living improved and healthier lives as a result of the health sensitizat­ion.
