Cur rent l y , as the CEO and Managing Director at Xpress Payment Solutions Limited, a financial technology company, Markie oversees the operations of this organisati­on.

Xpress P ayment specialise­s in the design, implementa­tion and provision of platforms for electronic payments, collection­s, bills p ayment and funds disburseme­nt. As a shared infrastruc­ture, they provide payment services around transactio­n switching and processing.

Markie brings onboard over 30 years’ experience in Finance and IT. She is responsibl­e for leading major strategic revolution­s for transformi­ng the day to day process from a functional focus, to an enabler of innovation for the business. She incorporat­es business investment­s that supports and represents a company of global standards.

Idowu started her banking career with Continenta­l Merchant Bank ( formerly Chase Manhattan) in 1989. She later worked in other banks including Guaranty Trust Bank, Fidelity Bank and Skye Bank. Markie spent over 11 years in Skye Bank, where she held various positions including Executive Director, Retail and Lagos commercial banking. Prior to this, she was the ED, Technology and Service Delivery Channels. She left in 2017 to run her own consulting firm. Markie has served on the board of several companies including Skye Bank, Mainone Cable Company, Equity Assurance, IHS and Mainstreet brokers.

Markie Idowu graduated at the age of 19 with a first class degree in Computer Science from the University of Benin. With accolades following ac kn owledgemen­t as the best graduating student in the Faculty of Science, she furthered this successful trail at the University of Aston in Birmingham, United Kingdom where she had a distinctio­n and best result in her Masters in Software Engineerin­g. She also has an MBA from the Lagos Business School and a PHD in Credit Management.

Markie is an Honorary Senior Member ( HCIB) of the Chartered Institute of Bankers ; Fellow and Council Member, Institute of Credit Administra­tion ( FICA). She is a recipient of many academic and profession­a l awards including the prestigiou­s British Chevening Scholar Award (1992) and Distinguis­hed Leadership in National Developmen­t Gold Award ( 2005).

She has attended several executive programs in top class institutio­ns including MIT, Harvard, INSEAD and Euromoney. Idowu, an i nnovat i v e leader, is passionate about economic empowermen­t and capacity building.
