- By John Salau

as THE football season across the world goes on break for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, arsenal FC will be toping the Premier League into the Christmas season for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

according to football fans and analysts, arsenal have underlined their genuine title credentials this season by dropping just five points from a possible 39 so far.

“Five points clear at the top of the Premier League. arsenal knew what was on offer ahead of kick-off and they got the job done,” Charles Watts @charles watts tweeted over the weekend after the 2-0 win away at Wolves on Saturday night.

according to Watts, arsenal is making a huge statement in a push for the PL title. “huge win, a huge start to the season and a huge opportunity now awaits when the Premier League restarts at Christmas,” Watts tweeted.

Similarly, another fan and journalist Bulama Bukarti @bulamabukarti tweeted “With Man City’s loss today, arsenal is sure to be on the top of the Premier League table at Christmas for the first time since 2007. But we are also very likely to head into the World Cup break five points clear. Sceptics, how,” he tweeted.

But, in response to Bukarti tweet another football fan, Kabir M ali @krazykabs tweeted “This tweet dey sweet my belle. hopefully 5 points in a few hours and that’s guarantee into the new year too”.

Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of omega Fire Ministry, also showed his love for arsenal Football

Club on Tweeter over the weekend

“Wolves 0-2 arsenal! Going into the break with 5points clear is commendable.. Long may it continue.. Well done arteta and the boys,” Suleman tweeted.

however, arsenal manager, Mikel arteta admitted after the Wolverhampton Wanderers game that nobody expected arsenal to be sitting top of the league at Christmas.

With arteta’s side winning 2-0 at Wolves and Manchester City losing 2-1 at home to Brentford, the Gunners

enter the winter break five points clear at the top of the league.

“I am more focused on our way of playing, our way of living together, the atmosphere we have around Colney and what we have generated with our supporters in our stadium. That is much more powerful. It’s great to be where we are, we are enjoying that moment. We have a big break, we have to reflect on what we are doing and we are very much prepared for what is to come after the World Cup,” arteta stated in his post-match analysis.

Martin odegaard helped arsenal to break the deadlock on 54 minutes with the openning goal assisted by Fabio Vieira, who came on for Granit Xhaka after just 16 minutes.

Xhaka’s early withdrawal prompted fears of a possible injury, but arteta revealed after the game that the Swiss midfielder was simply unwell.

“When a team is in the moment you want to carry on playing. It’s not possible so we have to use the time now in the best possible way,” arteta said, disclosing that arsenal aim to play better as a team every single day.
