2,000 successful applicants across Kaduna go for Tvet Maximisati­on project

THE 2,000 successful applicants across Kaduna state will be selected from the 15,000 that applied for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Maximisati­on project.

Implementa­tion Manager of the project and also the Area Manager of Industrial Trust Fund (ITF), Engr Garba Hassan, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna during the screening exercise.

He explained that over 121,000 persons had applied but the pilot phase of the project aims to equip only 15,000 individual­s with skills across seven states which comprised, Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Gombe, from August till December 2022.

According to him, the project is divided into two, in class and out class, narrating that applicants would undergo an intensive training for the periods of three months, then a sixmonth Industrial training before graduation.

Hassan stated that the Federal government has introduced strategies of tracking down the trainees to ensure that the starter packs given to them were not abused.

Speaking also, the Commission­er, Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, Kaduna state, Kabir Mato, assured that the project would reduce rates of unemployme­nt in the state and also create job opportunit­ies, particular­ly for the teeming youths.

He commended the Federal government for offering the state the highest numbers of the beneficiar­ies.

The Commission­er who was represente­d by the Director, innovation and skills developmen­t, Bulus Adon, urged the beneficiar­ies to judiciousl­y utilise the gesture.

It would be recalled that the Project T-MAX is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, which has been approved by the National Steering Committee on National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) as one of the core interventi­ons to achieve the Federal Government’s goal of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

The skills include ICT, Automobile Furniture Works, Welding & Fabricatio­n, Plumbing & Fittings, Tiling and Interlocki­ng, Electrical Installati­on. NAN
