Dozy Mmobuosi shuts down Lagos for Cancer Awareness Walk

November 19th,2022, was the date. And that was one day top Nigerian celebritie­s including Charly Boy, Orits Williki, Fred Amata, Daddy Showkey, Emeka Ossai and other residents led by billionair­e philanthro­pist, Dozy Mmobuosi came out in their hundreds to fight cancer - the most dreaded disease in the world today.

The 5-kilometre walk tagged “The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation March For Men Against Prostrate Cancer” organised by The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation, according to the convener “the primary goal of organising this walk is to create more awareness about Prostrate Cancer and the importance of early testing”. Call it a walk to draw attention to the plight of the menfolk who doesn’t get enough publicity as regards prostate cancer and you won’t be wrong. According to available informatio­n, Prostrate cancer is the most common cancer among men. Statically, 1 in 6 black men get Prostrate Cancer. And worldwide, an estimated 1,414,259 people were diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 2020.

A non-profit organisati­on, The Dozy Foundation has been in the forefront of efforts to spotlight the danger of prostrate cancer and the importance of early detection in the battle against prostrate cancer. Aside from the awareness campaign, the foundation has held a series of free prosprate cancer screenings across the country through the Free Mobile Prostrate Cancer Screening programme, a health care vision of the foundation launched earlier in June this year. The 5-kilometre Walk kicked off at 8pm with participan­ts walking from Jibowu Under Bridge to Teslim Balogun Stadium in

Surulere, Lagos. It also featured screening for over 1000 men by medical experts.
