Fubara is our political father, Wike our grandfather -Wike’s strong pillar

- By Ignatius Chukwu

is clear that not all factional leaders in the Rivers political crisis want a division between the Nyesom Wike camp and the Sim Fubara camp. Even some of those fighting hard on any one side still pray in their hearts that a middle ground be found and both father and son come together again and plot one common graph for now and for 2027. If this is done, the LGA elections would harmonious and 2027 would be easy.

One of those who allowed this thinking to escape from his heart is the Emohua LGA chairman, Chidi Lloyd, incidentally a man Wike acquired from the Amaechi camp.

Lloyd has denied the existence of different camps within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Lloyd made the assertion when he appeared on a Rivers State-based radio station, Family Love 97.7 FM radio show, ‘The Big Interview with Olalekan Da O-square’ monitored in Port Harcourt.

The Emohua Council boss said the current crisis in the state is caused by some people he said were fighting for political relevance.

Llyod said; “What is happening to the party is that people who lost their bid to win Governorship slot have relaunched a massive onslaught on the party”. When asked which camp he stands with in the feud, the Emohua Council chairman said; “I clearly stand with the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. He is our grand pa. There are no camps. The Governor is our Father, he brought all of us. We all stand with Wike. There are no camps.”

Asked if the camp still included the former governor of the state, Peter Odili, as a ‘great grand father” who is believed to be the political godfather of FCT Minister, Llyod retorted, “Are you the one to tell me who my great grand Father is?” The host had observed that one name was missing in the ‘family tree’ he tried to portray in the camp. Lloyd’s response seemed to confirm the statement by the former Rivers governor, Wike, that he and his erstwhile boss (Odili), now have political differences and no longer work together. Reacting to the question posed to get clarifications if all the political crisis that was on-going in Rivers State was mere drama, the former lawmaker responded; “I am not a Nollywood actor. I would not know but all I know is that there are no camps!”

Lloyd also backed moves by the state House of Assembly to extend the tenure of LHGA bosses in the state, saying it was a move to prevent a vacuum at the expiration of the tenure of local government administration.
