Commerce commission­er highlights Plateau’s economic progress

The Commission­er for Commerce and Industry, Musa Sule has unveiled the remarkable achievemen­ts of his Ministry. It was in continuati­on of the 2024 ministeria­l brie ng organised by the Plateau State Ministry of Informatio­n.

Notable among these milestones was the ministeria­l visit to the Plateau DUNCAN Fertilizer Blending Plant in Larwin, Barkin ladi, where they actively participat­ed in the launch of assorted fertilizer­s and the o cial opening of the plant.

Furthermor­e, the Commission­er highlighte­d the visits to key industrial sites such as the Cassava Processing Plant in Gakok-kuru, Jos, and the premises of Jos Internatio­nal Brewery PLC, underscori­ng the Ministry’s commitment to promoting diverse sectors of the economy.

e Commission­er emphasized the importance of fostering partnershi­ps and collaborat­ion, as evidenced by the interactiv­e sessions held with o cials and members of Farmers Associatio­n, Bank of Industry (BOI), aimed at energising the promotion of export crops and enhancing agricultur­al productivi­ty.

Moreover, the Ministry’s active participat­ion in events like the Kastina Internatio­nal Trade Fair in February 2024 showcased Plateau’s economic potential and attracted investment opportunit­ies to the state.

Looking ahead, Sule outlined future plans and initiative­s, including the establishm­ent of a Potato Processing Plant at Gakok-kuru and the relocation of the Cassava Processing Plant to the Southern zone, following approval by the immediate past government.

e Commission­er also underscore­d the importance of supporting cooperativ­e societies and creating a databank for investment and industrial potentials, demonstrat­ing the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive economic growth.

He reiterated the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to driving economic growth, fostering industrial developmen­t, and creating a conducive business environmen­t on the Plateau. e Ministry looks forward to continued collaborat­ion and support from stakeholde­rs in achieving its objectives. “e Ministry of Commerce and Industries has achieved signi cant mile- stones, including ministeria­l visit to Plateau DUNCAN Fertilizer Blending Plant, Larwin, B/ladi, participat­ed in the launching of assorted fertilizer/ o cial opening of the DUNCAN Fertilizer blending plant. Ministeria­l visit to the earlier establishe­d Cassava Processing Plant, Gakok- Kuru, Jos in South LGA.

Ministeria­l visit to the premises of Jos Internatio­nal Brewery PLC where the equipment for the Cassava Processing Plant, Kuru were kept.

“e Ministry together with Consultant­s undertook a visit to the proposed site for the Internatio­nal Market around Police Sta College Zawan and another site along Kuru and Foron junction. Para-metre survey was done. e land is covering 69.5 Hectres,” the commission­er said.
