I was part and parcel of decision to defect to APC - Wamakko

- Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto

ALTHOUGH, Sokoto state governor Aliyu Wamakko was out of the country when some governors in his camp of G- 7 announced defection to the opposition APC, but the governor says he is fully in support of the action of his colleagues.

His words, “I was part and parcel of that decision and was fully involved,” he declared, adding that before he travelled they held a meeting where the decision was reached.

Wamakko stated his position on the matter while speaking with reporters in Sokoto, but declined further comments on the issue.

It would be recalled that Wamakko was absent at the meeting of the nPDP in Kano during which the group decided to join APC.

The Sokoto state governor travelled to Dakar, Senegal where he delivered a paper at a forum organized by the African Union Commission.

The position of Wamakko on the issue of dumping PDP had thus remained unclear.

Meanwhile the Sokoto state governor has harped on the need for good governance in the country, saying the nation’s interest should be put above individual interest.

He enjoined people of the state to live peacefully with one another irrespective of their political differences.

Wamakko said politics is about opinion and interest therefore the need for people to play the game according to its rules and objectives.
