Re- Old Karshi natives live under unending fears of demolition

-

Iam a regular reader of your weekly news magazine Weekly Trust. I read the story of old Karshi natives live under unending fears of demolition in your Weekly Trust of 28 Sept 13 Vol 16 No 59 with keen interest having come from the area and with better knowledge of happenings around.

Karshi was founded 700 years ago, the founder of Karshi migrated from Kano during the Islamic Jihad, the founder who was known as Danbaba refused to accept Islam for his traditional religion, he prefer dancing than prayers, hence the name GWANDARAWA DA SALLAH and that is where the natives derive their name GWANDARA.

The entire Karshi Community is a homogeneous society with Gwandaras the speaking language. Any other tribe you may be find within the community are settlers who came to Karshi, because of the coming of Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) and fertile land for farming such people are Gwari, Tiv and so on. Gade are one of the cohabitant.

His Royal Highness the Sarkin Karshi Alh Ismaila Mohammed is not happy with the reporter one Mr Terna Doki who conducted the interview with some immigrants who claim to be natives of Karshi. Chief Sule Audu Maiganga is a Gwari man; he should stop parading himself as a native of Karshi. If sule Audu or whatever he calls himself, wants to speak on behalf of Gwari people, he should go back to Karu or Kurape which belongs to the Gwaris, where he will have a loud voice to speak.

It is should be noted that a Gwandara man cannot speak of anything in Karu where Gwari are predominant. Therefore, FCDA should come out clearly and tell the natives of Abuja, Karshi inclusive the truth of their status in Abuja even if it’s going to take them 50years before the demolition exercise. So that everybody will be aware and get prepared for the raining day and not to be taken unaware.

His Royal Highness, Alh Ismaila Mohammed expressed his disappointment over the interview which was conducted with a mere settler by the reporter. People like Alhaji Tanko Abubakar Galadiman Karshi, Alhaji Musa S Telle Director of Adminitration Ministry of Defence. Alh Awaje Awaja Madakin Karshi is there to give detailed account of Karshi and not Gwari man. I urge the Gbagyi living community in Karshi to call Mr Sule Audu to order to stop insinuating on what he does not know.

Idris Ibrahim Unguwan Hausa gimsy70@ yahoo. com Karshi, Karshi. Re: I was once stranded in Abuja THE above titled interview with former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Akaai Chaha, who presided over the affairs of the lower chamber between October 1 and December 31, 1983, made an interesting reading. The fact that he has been neglected by subsequent administrations shows the kind of leaders we have. I commend Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for directing that the man be included in the list of former House leaders and his picture placed in the National Assembly. Chaha should be reconised as one time Number 4 citizen of Nigeria.

Dooshima A. T., Benue State University Can we trust INEC in 2015? THE governorship election that took place in Anambra State has given Nigerians some concern as regard the capability of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) to conduct credible election in Nigeria come 2015. The whole exercise looks as if INEC has not learnt any lesson from previous elections conducted in this country. The Anambra experience may be an eye opener of what Nigerians should expect to see in 2015 if things remain the way they are. So the question is: can we trust INEC to give us a free and fair election in 2015? Time will tell.

Bala Nayashi, No 1 Yashi Area, Lokoja Haliru Sambo Ikara must hear this PERMIT me a space to call the attention of Haliru Sambo, member of Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Ikara Constituency. It’s quite unfortunate that you have lost contact with your people and turned to Kaduna based politician. While the people of Ikara are grappling with the numerous problems such as un- employment and lack of basic necessities of life, we have learnt that you are busy planning on how to get re- election in 2015 general election. It’s high time you woke up from slumber and provide quality representation. This is what we need period!

Musa Abdulsalam Kurmin Kogi, Dept of Political Science, ABU, Zaria. On Dr. Suleiman Dikko’s appointment THE appointment of the executive Dr. Suleiman Dikko, chairman of Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board as the new Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Board ( UBEC) by President Goodluck Jonathan is what you call putting a square peg in a square hole. This is in view of Dr Dikko’s track records of achievements as a career educationist. His academic records and wealth of experience in education administration will go along the way in removing the nation’s primary education out of the woods.

Dikko Bala K/ Sauri, Kofar- Sauri, Katsina. Dualize DutsinmaKatsina Road I would like to call on Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema to write his name in gold by dualizing the busy Dutsinma- Katsina Road. The road has become a death trap because it is so narrow, with lots of sharp bends. Hundreds of lives have perished on this road and the only solution to this incessant carnage is the dualisation of the road. Meanwhile, drivers should also avoid recklessness and over speeding to minimize accidents that occur almost on a daily basis.

Comrade Bishir Dauda, Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina unshakablecomrade@ yahoo. com Are G7 governors really sincere? THE recent announcement of merger between the opposition All Progressive Congress and estranged members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) should give Nigerians some hope of defeating the PDP in 2015. But are the members of G7, especially the governors, sincere? It is apparent that the so- called new PDP has decided to opt out of PDP led by Bamanga Tukur for their selfish interest not that of the nation. So it is necessary for APC to open its eyes widely to watch so as not to be taken for a ride.

Falalu Ahmed, College of Legal and General Studie, Daura. Kano should reopen libraries in LGs I would like to appeal once again to the 44 local governments in Kano State to, for the sake of students, reopen the libraries which hitherto students used to read to improve their performance in schools. It is disheartening that the reading culture is gradually banishing and students nowadays resort to watching films and football matches in viewing centres which definitely affects their performance in the examinations. I therefore appeal to local government Chairmen to reopen the libraries in their localities to help revive the reading culture among our youths.
