More PDP govs to join APC - Okorocha
GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday said more governors of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) would join their G5 colleagues. Addressing newsmen at the Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri on arrival yesterday from Abuja after an meeting with leadership of the APC, Okorocha said the movement of the PDP governors to the APC was not only a healthy development, but highly commendable.
He said: “Nigerians should now begin to experience real democracy.”
According to him, the defection of the governors would further strengthen democracy in the country, adding that such steps would metamorphose into making Nigeria a two- party nation.
The governor, who earlier predicted the movement of the aggrieved PDP governors to the APC, said having two strong political parties in the country would create opportunity for healthy democratic system.
The governor said the supplementary election billed for Anambra State today has gone beyond the APC not taking part in the election, but that the party was asking INEC to council it.
According to him, Anambra governorship election has also vindicated him when he described the other faction of APGA as APGA- PDP, adding that for the PDP people to abandon their candidate for the APGA candidate was enough evidence that he left with the main APGA into APC.
