- Mohammed Shosanya, Lagos

HONDA Manufacturing Nigeria (HMN) has re-launched one of its motorcycle models (CG110) to ensure greater efficiency in commercial motorcycle business in the country

The company’s Managing Director, Osamu Ishikawa, said at the re-launch of the product in Ibadan that Honda’s first entrant was the 110CC capacity engine, which among other things had an experimental fuel efficiency, unbeatable mileage, better engine performance and durability of high maintenance parts.

The sales of the re-launched product have already begun in order to ensure that Nigerians get quick utility of the motorcycles which were first introduced to the market in December 2013 to serve private or personal users.

He said the product’s major selling points prompted the yearnings of commercial motorcycle riders for an improvement of the model to suit their taxi operational requirements.

“The improvement areas to make the model suitable for okada taxi based on their recommendation included the longer seat for passenger’s comfort (especially to carry two passengers apart from the driver) and the pillion step bar (foot rest) for passenger’s convenience. This feature is now available on the CG110 (okada) model,’’ Ishikawa said.

He said as part of the strategy to promote the model, the company had started testing riding activities in various okada parks to check the market acceptability while also checking and comparing it to other available key competitor models in the market.
