Pressure mounts on FC Ifeanyi Ubah players
Indications have emerged that players of big money spending FC IfeanyiUbah are presently facing tremendous pressure in the hands of their proprietor, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah who is said to be dissatisfied with their showing in the league.
Although they have qualified for the quarter finals of this year’s Federation Cup, the ‘Nnewi Millionaires’ are not among the clubs in serious contention for the Nigeria Professional Football league title.
The star studded team filled to the brim with foreign professionals including Brazilians are 10th on the table and it is said the owner of the club is not impressed.
One of the players who spoke to SHOT! on condition of anonymity said Ubah was even furious when the team got an away draw against 3SC in their week 24 encounter.
He said they were heavily criticised for dropping the two points which the proprietor believed were available for the taking.
The player said Ubah is not interested in anything less than the maximum points even if they are playing away from home.
“I can confess to you that we are under serious pressure from our proprietor. He is not happy with our position on the table.
“As a matter of fact he was very angry when we drew against 3SC in Ibadan. He felt let down by our inability to win the match.
“We have not stopped working hard but from what is happening, it appears we would have to redouble our efforts. The man is not ready to take excuses,” he said.
FC IfeanyiUbah have an oriental derby against embattled Heartland in Owerri on Sunday and the player believes it is another opportunity to appease the ‘boss’.
“We are playing against Heartland. Although it is an away game we are hoping to get something big out of the match.
“Our ‘big boss’ is not ready to listen to any more excuses so we are also learning to avoid failure. It is a local derby and derbies are usually difficult but we certainly have an upper hand,” he said.
