Bradley Cooper slammed by Republican ‘American Sniper’ fans for being at DNC

- Jackie Willis

Bradley Cooper angered some of his conservative fans when he was spotted at the Democratic National Convention in his home town of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On Wednesday night, cameras panned to the 41-year-old actor seated in the audience with his Russian model girlfriend, Irina Shayk. His mere presence at the DNC seemed to irk some Republicans, who knew him for his role as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in the 2014 biopic, American Sniper. The film was directed Clint Eastwood, an outspoken Republican, and is considered by some to have a conservative point of view.

“Bradley Cooper is promoting Hillary? Too bad. He’s dead to me now,” one Twitter user proclaimed.

“Bradley Cooper at DNC?! Guess I’ve seen my last Bradley Cooper movie. Ewww Ick,” another tweet read.

One Twitter user posted a screen shot of Cooper at the RNC, writing: “I have a list of celebrities that support Socialism I refuse to spend another $ on. Add this one. Boycott them all.”

Still other tweets made light of Republicans thinking that the actor should be in support of the right. Calling attention to Cooper’s role as Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy, one Twitter user joked: “People being upset Bradley Cooper who played the American Sniper is not a Republican is like me being upset he is not a real space raccoon.”

“News flash: Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a robot and Julia Roberts is not a prostitute #BradleyCooper #gop,” read another tweet.

Cooper has been rather vocal about being a Democrat. In January 2015, he told Howard Stern that he helped orchestrate President Barack Obama’s appearance on Funny or Die’s Between Two Ferns, a spoof talk show hosted by Cooper’s Hangover co-star, Zach Galifianakis.

The three-time Oscar nominee isn’t the only A-list celebrity at the DNC this week. Meryl Streep, Demi Lovato, Eva Longoria, Sarah Silverman and Lee Daniels have all spoken at the convention.
