Bashir vows to put more pressure on Wikki’s Obaje

- David Ngobua

Nasarawa United goal scoring machine, Abdulrahaman Bashir has vowed to continue to put pressure on Wikki Tourists striker, Godwin Obaje until he (Bashir) takes over as the position of top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Having scored in six consecutive matches, the Nasarawa United striker now has 12 goals going into this weekend clash against El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in Makurdi.

Meanwhile the leading NPFL goal scorer Obaje of Wikki Tourists is on 14 goals and will have the opportunity to increase his tally when his team visit Akwa United.

In a chat with SHOT!, the former ABS and Enyimba striker said he is not going to take his eyes off the NPFL hotshot award as he wants to prove to all his critics that he is indeed one of the best strikers in the league.

He said he is enjoying the best form of his career and so barring unforeseen circumstances, he will keep mounting pressure on the leading goal scorer with the aim of toppling him.

“I am happy that I have continued to pile pressure on the man who is leading the goal scorers table. At the moment, we are separated by just two goals.

“This weekend, I hope to score more goals so as to catch up with him. He is doing very well but he too must be feeling the pressure I am putting on him,” he said.

Bashir however said the match against El-kanemi Warriors is not going to be an easy one as every club is now trying to avoid defeat.

“I hope to score against El-Kanemi to brighten my chances of taking the lead. It will not be easy to beat El-kanemi but we have found a fortress at the Aper Aku stadium Makurdi,” he said.
