Kicking off!

-

Home-based Super Falcons are currently taking part in the regional tournament, the WAFU Women’s Cup in Cote d’Ivore. The tournament which is in its inaugural edition is the female version of the WAFU Cup of Nations which Ghana hosted and won last year at the expense of the Home-based Super Eagles.

Going by their intimidating profile in the continent, the Super Falcons are highly favoured to win the championship which kicked-off on Wednesday. Although female football is fast growing on the continent, this is a regional competition and the Falcons should be able to continue with their dominance.

In our cover story this week, we have done a preview of the Home-based Super Falcons group matches and how they are being tipped by football pundits to lift the trophy at stake.

Even as the team is star studded, all eyes will be on young striker, Rasheedat Ajibade for the goals that will land the Falcons their first WAFU Women’s Cup trophy.

Our interview is with a former Super Eagles striker, Mutiu Adepoju who earned the nick-name ‘Headmaster’ due to his aerial prowess during his days in the senior national team.

He spoke to us on the need for Super Eagles players to be active in their respective clubs, if they are to be selected for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. It is an insightful interview.

As always, our man in London, David Billington is very much on top of his game as he brings to you the serious and funny happenings in English Premier League in the most captivating style.

In golf, two former world number one players, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are battling it out on the same course at Riviera Country Club. The younger legend is excited to play alongside the more famous legend.

And we rounded up with football in Europe where Spanish giants Barcelona are not so sure of what to expect as they visit the in-form team Eibar today.

There is so much to enjoy in this edition of SHOT!. Just keep a date with us for the most exciting sports stories every weekend.

Have a splendid weekend.
