Corruption rife in LGs - ICPC
The Commissioner for Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), in charge of Edo State, Olukile Olusesan, has said that corruption is rife in most local government councils in the country.
Olusesan disclosed made the remarks yesterday during a courtesy call on the Chairman of Ovia SouthWest local government area of the state, Comrade Destiny Enabulele.
He said weak internal structures of local governments encourage corruption.
“The systems and procedures are too loose, at the expense of a strict internal control. Majority of staff are lackadaisical to work they are employed to do,” he said.
Comrade Enabulele urged the ICPC boss to come up with possible solutions to strengthen internal structure so that local government can meet the yearnings of the people.
