Lobi Stars will eliminate UMS de Loum in Makurdi – Imenger

The Team Manager of Lobi Stars of Makurdi Barnabas Imenger has expressed confidence that his team will eliminate their opponents, UMS de Loum of Cameroon in the 2019 CAF Champions League when they clash on Wednesday in the return leg in Makurdi.

Lobiu Stars started their campaign in the CAF elite club competition on a shaky notewhen they were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of the preliminary round in Yaounde on Wednesday

The former international is however optimistic that having seen the strength and weaknesses of their opponents, Lobi Stars will turn the table against them when they coming visiting on Wednesday, December 5, at the Aper Aku stadium.

Imenger said Lobi Stars put up good performance but failed to take the numerous chances that came their way.

He, however, expressed hope that the technical crew led by Coach Solomon Ogbeide will go back to the drawing board to come out with solutions that will lead to victory in the return leg.

“It was an even game as both sides created a lot of goal scoring opportunities but couldn’t convert.

“We lost concentration in the midfield. In the process, our midfielders drifted away from their zone and our opponents attacker capitalized on the free space in the middle, ran into the defense and released a low shot which beat our goalkeepers.

“However, it is not over for us. We must push real hard in the return leg to move to the next level. We are determined to eliminate our opponents for us to progress in the competition.

“UMS is a physical team that plays with so much power and determination but our passing and creative play on a good day can wreck any team,” he said.

Imenger reiterated that the target of Lobi Stars is to reach the group stage of the competition.
