NAHERA can’t lay claim to Army Estate - Gen. Atawodi

- Austine Odo

The Nigerian Army Housing Estate Residents Association (NAHERA) has never claimed ownership of the Nigerian Army Post-Service Housing Estate in Kurudu, Abuja, but only makes input on issues that affect the estate’s structure, the president of the association, Major General S.U. Atawodi (rtd), has said.

Atawodi, who spoke at the association’s general meeting in Abuja, said it was false to say that NAHERA’s legal tussle with the Army Post-Housing Department, a department under the Nigerian Army Welfare Holdings Limited, was due to personal interests.

He was reacting to insinuations that the legal case instituted by NAHERA was to benefit NAHERA executive members.

“We are only trying to protect your interests as residents because you elected us to represent you,” he said.

Atawodi reminded residents to take security as everyone’s responsibility, and called for cooperation to effectively secure the environment, assuring that the management would continue to do its best in that regard. He urged residents to promptly pay their service charge to enable the management effectively handle projects at the estate.

Many residents who contributed to the discussion also appealed for the quick resolution of the impasse with the Army Post-Housing Department.
