Benue PDP loses 30 members in auto crash

At least 30 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State on Friday lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident at Ojinebe 1 village along Otukpo-Oweto highway area of the state.

Our correspond­ent gathered that the victims were on their way from Oju LGA to attend the PDP’s zonal flag-off campaign rally of in Agatu LGA when their vehicle had a head-on collision with another.

A statement by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, indicated that the party has cancelled the rally following the tragedy, which occurred in the morning hours.

“The PDP has been thrown into great grief and mourning following the tragic loss of over 30 party faithful in a road accident earlier this morning in the Zone C Senatorial District of the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, state chairman of the PDP, Sir John Ngbede, at the venue of the campaign rally in Obagaji-Agatu, said the developmen­t was shocking as he declared the rally cancelled in honour of the dead victims.

Kaduna: Sarkin Kasuwar Magani declared missing Mohammed Yaba, Kaduna The Sarkin Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State, Malam Abdullah Haruna, popularly known as Dan Asabe has been declared missing. Daily Trust Saturday gathered that he was missing since on Wednesday 26 December, 2018 after going to his farm.

Details remain sketchy, but a youth leader in Kasuwar Magani who preferred anonymity said no news has been heard of him since he went missing.

The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, DSP Yakubu Sabo could not be reached for comment.
