Tinubu, Dangote, Otedola make Buhari’s campaign council
The National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and business moguls, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, are among members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign council.
The Buhari Presidential Campaign Council, unveiled yesterday, will be chaired by President Buhari while Tinubu will serve as co-chairman, Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina said in a statement.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiohmole, are to serve as deputy chairmen.
A former Governor of Benue State, Sen. George Akume, and a former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, are to serve as vice chairmen of the North and South respectively.
Members of the Special Advisory Committee to the President are Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sen. Ahmed Lawan (Senate Leader), Femi Gbajabiamila (Leader of the House), APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiohmole, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Femi Otedola.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who was Director General of Buhari’s Campaign Council in 2015, retained his position. Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora and Arch. Waziri Bulama will serve as Deputy Directors General (Operations and Coordination) respectively.
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and Dele Alake are to serve as secretaries of the council.
The council has six zonal directors for each of the country’s geopolitical zones. They are Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (North West), Sen. Ali Ndume (North East), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu (North Central), Sola Oke (SAN) (South West), Sharon Ikeazor (South East) and Sen. Godswill Akpabio (South South).
Other members of the council are the Director, Buhari Support Groups, Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed, Director, Strategic Communication, Festus Keyamo, Deputy Director (Communication), Abike DabiriErewa, Director, Contact and Mobilisation, Hadiza Bala Usman, Deputy Director (South), Victor Eboigre, and Deputy Director (North), Sen. Bashir Nalado.
Governors are to serve as state coordinators in their respective states while gubernatorial candidates in non- APC states will serve as state coordinators in their respective states.
Meanwhile, the forum of zonal and state youth leaders of the APC has kicked against the list of presidential campaign council.
The forum, in a statement signed by the North Central Youth Leader, Com. Terver Aginde, on behalf of all the zonal and state youth leaders, said the APC leadership had continued to downgrade them despite their sacrifice and contribution to the party.
