Firefighters carrying arms while on duty for the purpose of self defence in times of attack is not entirely a bad idea. However, it should be the last resort after all other options have been exhausted by the government.

The basic question is, why should firefighters get assaulted while doing their job? The answer is, they sometimes arrive late to emergency scenes without proper equipment to contain the emergency. This triggers the attack.

Government should provide them with relevant equipment to enable them do their job well instead of giving them arms which can not solve the fire problem that they are meant to solve.
