Lobi Stars suspend 3 players over insubordination and sabotage
The management of Lobi Stars has suspended indefinitely three key players, Ebube Duru, John Lazarus and Ossy Martins over acts of insubordination and sabotage.
The Media Officer of the club, Austin Tyowua said the management took the decision after the players failed to offer satisfactory answers to queries issued to them.
He said “Ebube Duru was suspended for insubordination and sabotage, having been exerting negative influence on his team mates and persistently feigned injuries to opt out of several games without the club medical officer’s excuse duty certificate.
“The height of his acts of insubordination was when he blatantly defiled the Vice Chairman’s strong instruction that he must make the Matchday 33 trip to Katsina.
The statement further explained that Martins and Lazarus were found guilty of abandonment of club duties under false pretence.
“The duo of John Lazarus and Ossy Martins feigned injuries and opted out of the Aiteo Cup round of 16 against Bayelsa United and were spotted in the camp of another NPFL club for a contract negotiation without notice, which the management considered to be an act of sabotage.”
Tyowua said the suspension of the three players takes immediate effect without pay to serve as deterrent to other players.
Meanwhile, the Media Officer stressed that Lobi Stars have played their last four games, including the matches against Plateau United, Nasarawa United and Enyimba without the suspended players and were undefeated.
