Osinbajo meets Oyo APC delegates, says he is more experienced
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday met with the Oyo State delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming presidential primaries of the party.
He met them at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, where he promised to hit the ground running if elected president in 2023.
At the meeting were a former governor of Edo State, Prof Oserheimen Osunbor; former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun; Chief Adeniyi Akintola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN); chairman of the APC in Oyo State, Isaac Omodewu and Senator
Babafemi Ojudu.
Others were Senator Teslim Folarin(APC, Oyo Central), Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North), Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC, Bauchi North), members of the House of Representatives, Olusegun Odebunmi (Oyo) and Simon Karu from Gombe State.
Addressing the delegates at the Civic Centre, Osinbajo appreciated members of the party for standing firm to ensure a peaceful convention.
Ahead of the APC presidential primary election, Osinbajo noted that the vantage positions he had occupied gave him leverage over other presidential aspirants.
He said, “One advantage I will have is that on day one I can hit the ground running because I know what it takes. Another thing I want to tell you is that in all the important decisions we will make on security, economy and the rest, we will consult at every level.
“I have served in the Federal Government of Nigeria for the past seven years. And in those seven years, I have been involved because the president considered it the right thing to do. In his own generosity and openness, he gave me every opportunity to serve, including very sensitive international assignments.
“I believe that time has come and I have the responsibility to my country. I have the responsibility to you, all our children and the coming generations.”
