Aregbesola hails Tinubu, says election call to serve Nigeria

The Minister of the Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has congratula­ted the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his victory at the poll. In a statement issued by his office in Abuja yesterday, the minister urged the new leader to see his election as the nation’s president as a call to serve the country.

Aregbesola in the statement made available to newsmen in Abuja also enjoined Tinubu to remember his days of advocacy for the enthroneme­nt for civil rule, adding that history beckons on him to rework Nigeria to the path of greatness.

The minister, while tracing the political trajectory of Tinubu said the former Lagos State governor is well equipped to lead the country based on his solid managerial and political pedigree.

“This victory is a call to duty. It is my wish that with this victory comes the consolidat­ion of eight years of massive infrastruc­ture developmen­t of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administra­tion,” he said.

The minister also called on Tinubu to ensure democracy is deepened in the country under his watch as the nation’s helmsman.

He further charged Tinubu to ensure that Nigeria meets her historic responsibi­lities of leading Africa and other black countries of the world to greatness.

Oba of Benin greets president-elect

In a similar vein, the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has congratula­ted Tinubu on his victory at the February 25 presidenti­al election.

The Oba of Benin in his congratula­tions message described the victory as well deserved.

“Going by your acceptance speech, you have already indicated that you are ready to be a unifier. We join other well-wishers and Nigerians to thank God for a peaceful hitch-free election and wish you a successful tenure,” he said.
