One of the missing school girls at the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, has returned to the school. Some of the missing school girls were abducted and others escaped for their dear lives, when suspected members of the Boko Haram attacked the school early Tuesday morning. Musa Inuwa Kubo, Borno State Commissioner for Education, who disclosed this in a press statement made available to Sunday Trust, said the girl is one of those who escaped at the hostel when the suspected insurgents attacked.

“I am afraid we do not have an update that is as encouraging as Friday’s. Only one of our missing students returned today. She was not among those abducted. She was however one of the 129 girls at the hostel on that black day the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, was attacked. She ran out of the school during the attack and thereafter, went to her parents. She was brought back by her mother on Saturday,” he said. The commissioner said the latest development brought the number of students found to 45, while 84 are still missing.

He explained that 28 escaped from abduction while 17 fled home during the attack, adding that all the returnees were being reconnected with their families pending the return of the remaining 84. “We are hopefully expecting the return of our 84 students as intensive search and rescue efforts continue. I once again acknowledge the combined efforts of the security agencies and civilian volunteers for their patriotism.
