Fayemi, Fayose, Bamidele urge prayers for peaceful poll in Ekiti

- From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, a former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose and a member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele have urged the people of the state to seize the opportunity of the Easter season to pray for the success of the forthcoming June 21 governorship election in the state.

They made the statements in their different Easter goodwill messages to the people of the state.

Governor Fayemi in the statement by his Chief Press Secretary Yinka Oyebode, urged Christians to use the period to pray for peace, development and prosperity of Ekiti State, especially as the state approaches the governorship election in two months.

He also urged them to use the opportunity to pray for God’s intervention in the affairs of the country, especially in bringing lasting solution to the escalating cases of insurgency which is threatening the peace of the country.

He commended Christians in the state for living in harmony with adherents of other religions, noting that this has contributed immensely to the peace being enjoyed in the state.

Bamidele, the governorship candidate of Labour Party, in his statement by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, urged Christians to remain committed and fervent in their prayers for sustainable peaceful co-existence among all religious bodies in the state.

He said it was imperative at this critical time for all religious bodies to see one another as one in this challenging time by rededicating themselves to the service of God rather than engaging in religious bigotry that could incur the wrath of God.

He said the coming Ekiti election could only be free and fair if people are prayerful.

Similarly, Fayose, who is the governorship candidate of PDP in the coming poll, said in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi urged the people to emulate Jesus Christ in everything to ensure peace in the society.
