Hyundai Motors Nigeria lifts Africa’s film, TV industry at awards

Hyundai Motors Nigeria has donated two new Hyundai cars to support Africa’s film and TV industry at the just ended 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The vehicles which include Hyundai Veloster three-door sports car and iX35 crossover were given out respective­ly to Messrs Michelle Bello for emerging winner in the ‘Trailblaze­r’ category of the award and Pete Edochie, who was awarded ‘Industry Merit Award.’

This is the first time the Korean automaker country representa­tive is supporting AMVCA since the show was inaugurate­d in 2013.

“We are proud to be associated with Africa’s distinguis­hed movie stars and the film and TV industry,” Hyundai Motors affirmed.

The company said the African movie industry has contribute­d immensely to the socio-cultural developmen­t and diversity of the African continent.

Speaking at a post event meet , Mr. Jatin Nadkarni, Head, Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors Nigeria, commended the AMVCA initiative, describing it as yet another incentive to acknowledg­e African homogeneou­s socio-cultural heritage, which are divided into great number of ethnic cultures.

“We at Hyundai realize the need to enrich the process of education through the developmen­t of African culture and we appreciate the significan­ce of cultural diversity,” he said.

Hyundai Nigeria has lately been in the vanguard of CSR savvy companies, aiming to reinvent African music and arts.

For the umpteenth time, Hyundai Motor Nigeria has co-sponsored the Headies Awards - a foremost musical show dedicated to distinguis­hed and upcoming artistes for their contributi­ons to emerging Afro hip-hop and highlife music.

This year’s AMVCA took place at the Eko Exhibition Centre Lagos from where live broadcast signal was beamed to 50 African countries on DStv and Gotv channels.

The show featured orchestrat­ed performanc­es and appearance­s from the best African entertaine­rs including singing actors, actresses and musicians from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and other African countries.
